Portland Global Initiatives will be working with Portland Roasting Coffee and the Human Bean along with The Coffee Source to make a huge difference in the lives of 168 farmers in Colombia. Our objective is to produce a waste water collection facility at every coffee farm (total: 168 farms) within the entire region of Caldas, Colombia.
A waste water collection facility will lower the water consumption and waste water throughout the entire region. This will make it easier for specialty coffee companies to purchase coffee that has been more sustainably produced. More importantly this will have a positive impact on hundreds of people in Colombia.
As expected this is an ambitious project that will require several fundraisers and we expect will span a three year time period. The Pub Crawl in March, 2017 is our first fundraising event and we are hoping to raise $10,000. This first pub crawl is the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of this project while raising funds that will be used for this purpose.
Over the next three years we are looking for donations that will go directly to this project. Please click here to donate to this exciting project.
